Dental Checkups & Teeth Cleanings

Coming in for a dental checkup at least twice a year gives Dr. Patterson a chance to do more than just look for cavities and take care of them before they cause serious pain or damage. She’ll also perform an oral cancer screening, ensuring this deadly disease is caught when it’s easiest to treat, and a hygienist will systematically remove all plaque and tartar from your teeth. This takes away the source of both decay and gum disease while making your teeth feel like porcelain!

Children’s Dentistry

Dr. Patterson loves welcoming young patients and showing them that dentistry is nothing to be nervous about. She also likes making dental care more convenient for families because everyone can visit the same practice, plus she can be the go-to source for information if parents ever have questions related to teething, when the adult teeth should come in, and more.

Gum Disease Treatment

Did you know that gum disease is the most common dental problem in the world? This infection weakens the support system of your teeth, which can eventually cause them to become loose and fall out! Fortunately, there is a lot we can do to prevent things from getting to this point. Scaling and root planing is a focused type of dental cleaning where we remove all of the bacteria buildup around the gumline and then smooth the roots of the teeth so that it doesn’t come back.

Fluoride Treatment

We’ll apply a topical fluoride solution to your teeth that is several times stronger than anything you’ll find in stores, and for younger patients, we can use something called silver diamine fluoride for spots where decay is starting to develop. This solution quickly kills the harmful bacteria while also strengthening the enamel, enabling us to fix minor cavities quickly while keeping the drill safely tucked away.

Dental Sealants

The teeth most likely to get cavities are the ones in the back. They are tricky to clean, and the deep pits and grooves are the perfect places for bacteria to gather and thrive. But with a dental sealant, we can essentially cover these teeth with a “raincoat,” or a thin, clear layer of dental resin. This is perfect for children still learning how to brush as well as cavity-prone adults.

Nightguards for Bruxism (Teeth Grinding)

Do you usually have a headache and/or sore jaw to greet you in the morning? Do your teeth look flat, worn, and feel sensitive? These are all telltale signs that you’re grinding them while you sleep, which is a condition called bruxism. To keep your teeth protected while you rest, we can give you a custom-made nightguard to wear to bed, which will separate the upper and lower rows slightly and prevent them from touching.
